Food is always fresh & tasty. Staff makes sure you are happy with your meal. Two words: FISH TACOS We come here with or without kids and everyone is happy, even our "token" vegetarian. Prices are very good considering the very high quality ingredients they use.

We were in need of a delicious Mexican meal during our vacation - and we were not disappointed by Jake's! Dinner was made to order. The wet burritos were delicious! We ordered a side of guac that was also delicious. Only wish that they offered margaritas !

Excellent excellent food. The burritos and tacos were awesome with vegetarian options as well. Very large portions, quick service, and great food.

Huge, fresh mahi burritos for $7! This is THE place to eat on the beach. The food is epic and inexpensive, the staff is friendly and they have beers. I really can't say enough good things about this place. I've taken my family (wife + 2 kids) and made it out the door sub $30. also a great place to get a bite and a few beers and hang out in the AC for awhile. they have a comfortable dining area with good music and a TV

YUM!! The "naked burritos" are the best! My fiancé and I get take out from here at least twice a month and a never disappointed! Food is always fresh, service is good, and the portions are HUGE!

Had some yummy fish tacos! Love the spicy verde sauce and the wide variety of fresh toppings like baby spinach, cilantro and black olives in addition to the standard favorites. Keep up the good work!

Ok. I am not just a customer in a bad mood. I am a customer who has come in two days in a row and the food was not great. Just my feed back. Nice folks. Food not good...taco bell had better flavor. First day sandwich was burned. No big deal. When I went to eat the food irs was just bland..chips cold and kinda stale. Attempted second day for lunch..jalapeño poppers cold on the inside. They was stuck together therefore did not cook.. again chips cold and stale..The two soft tacos coyld not eat. The beef was just not even warm and just tasted nasty. My guess it was being reheated from yesterday.. Not a complaing guest just giving feedback .. I think someone working there would like to know because there really nice and I know they don't mean to serve poor quality food. Thank You.

Great food and friendly staff. But be careful when paying with Visa or MasterCard. On more than one occasion we have paid, given a cash tip, checked bank statements the next day and they will write in a tip that had not been authorized. I might not be returning for that reason only. Or just making sure to only pay with cash!

Stopped in for a quick taco. Ordered the Mahi taco "plate". Two tacos, chips and salsa. Great blackened Mahi. Pico has way too many onions for my liking. Just overpowers everything else. Lifeless, uninspired chips. Great salsa! Beer selection needs to be beefed up from the standard domestics. Appears to be owned by Crabby Bill's next door. Had Crabby's stuff all over the restaurant. Had I known that, I would have kept driving (see my review of Crabby's Clearwater location). But, I was happy with my meal.

Awesome beach spot, great food! I live in Sand a Key, and have been here for 4 years. This is a great little spot for anytime of the day. The service is good, the food is good, and they have churros!!!!

After reading the reviews my husband and I were excited for some good Mexican food. When we walked in, we were not greeted and didn't know if we were to seat ourselves or how they worked. I am lactose intolerant and when I asked the young man behind the counter if there beef is prepared using any dairy products, he went to ask and another young man came out. He told me all the meat is mixed with a pre-made mix of seasonings, and he had no idea if there was any dairy. Typically when I ask this, the wait staff offers to check the list of ingredients to assure no dairy, these young men never offered to check for me and appeared to care less if they lost our business. We walked out, very disappointed!!!

The best way I can explain this place is a chipotle that happens to be owned by Crabby Bills. As odd of a concept as it sounds, this place has more options, tastes better and is actually less expensive than Chipotle. They have about a half million toppings to add to the burritos and at least 6 meats, including mahi. It is a greta place to go if you are in the mood for a nice burrito.

Great food and staff. Super friendly. Everything fresh and decent portions. Mahi tacos great. Also recommend the garlic lime shrimp in a quesadilla.

Loved this place. It took my husband a while to convince me to go, because it just looked so tiny. But looks are deceiving. It's larger on the inside than it looks. The food was awesome! And I am super picky, ask anyone I know. They have large portions for such little cost! They're queso was perfect, chips were great, everything was hot, it was just pleasantly surprising. The staff was very nice as well. They got extremely busy while we were eating, some people left while waiting in line, I really wanted to stop them and tell them it was worth the wait. They were just a little short staffed while we were there, but it didn't change my opinion. A few minutes more to wait for good food never hurt anybody. My husband and I will definitely return, we live not too far away.

Big portions. Pretty good mahi mahi/fish. Great selection of fresh veggies. Good stop after a long day at the beach.

Excellent diverse simple menu. Quite a nice range of things to choose from. It's intimate for a nice little restaurant shack. Great food to try out if you want to sample the local cuisine. Its a very easy going, laid back atmosphere.

Okay...my review for the new Jake's Cantina... The set-up is similar to Chipotle. Basically, choose your mean (tacos, burrito) along with your meat and toppings. They offer Mahi-Mahi as a meat choice, which is a nice change from the typical. The portions are huge, and the food is quality. I will admit that I took on the Chacha-ritto (sp?) challenge, which was basically finish a massive burrito (3-4 pounds?) in ten minutes and get it free...and won. I couldn't have done it, though, if the food was average. I would imagine a burrito from Jake's would taste pretty good after a night of partying at Crabby's just next door...

  • Cait H.

Absolutely delicious. We got the tacos - I got chicken and my boyfriend got mahi mahi. I was afraid it wouldn't be enough food, but they seriously loaded it up. For 2 fish tacos, chips, queso (highly recommended) and a drink, it was $10. Can't beat it. A very adorable place and the workers were so kind and helpful.

Great spot for an affordable, quick meal. They have tofu, which pleasantly surprised me, and the guy who took our order at counter reassured us that both the beans and rice were vegetarian. Had a wet tofu burrito that was delicious and my mom had the Mahi fish tacos, which she really liked. Was empty around lunch on a Sat. so hopefully it's not going anywhere b/c it's great to have a place with veggie options on the beach.

I been eating here a few times since moving to the area and was really impressed with this little place. Every time I go I have had a great meal with no complaints. Like most said its a little hole in the wall owned by the same owners as crabby bills, chipotle style menu but every once in awhile they throw some weird specials up like beef tongue. the staff is always friendly. the place is decently clean and they clean up after you. huge servings, and close to the beach and bars. great little place that just keeps making me come back. My roommate saids they have the best mahi mahi tacos and I love there nachos.

Tacos and beer, great, fresh quality and fast service. Table service, but very fast and friendly. Great for a quick non-chain non-pizza and non-expensive source of good beach food.

  • Cory M.

Stopped in for lunch. Food was very good. We had the pork burrito and the chicken quesadilla, both i would get again. Some well chosen beer choices topped it all off.

  • Tina C.

Not so good. Greasy beef tacos gross. Hard rice ouch! And 5 chips came with your meal. Expensive for 2 tacos. The salsa was bad. The add your topping bar is like subway weird. All meats were pre made. This a not a good place.

  • Kim S.

Best tacos and Burritos on the beach! Huge portions and all fresh salsa, fish, meat and veggies! My favorite is the fish taco! And now they serve beer, too! And... Very affordable!

    (5)
  • Clyde S.

Not bad...similar to a Qdoba or Chipotle restaurant, but smaller. Food was pretty good, but chips were a little stale. Service was outstanding! Nice that they have NFL Sunday ticket! This place is owned by same people as Crabby Bills, so you can take your burrito over to that Bar (short walk away) if you so choose.

Good cheese steak, but not great. The order of French fries is Huge. They have converted to a Mexican menu since my review.

My husband and I shared the nachos after going to the beach. Nachos were amazing and big enough for us both! We got the nachos with chicken, halfnhalf beans( refried and black) , queso cheese, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, pico, salsa, and sour cream. The service was great! Small but wonderful food! Everything is made to order and they have tons of additional toppings and sauces to add to your meal. **we both returned and got burritos and they were delicious, huge and hard to finish.

Delicious and addicting. Good prices and fresh ingredients. You build your own with choice of beans, meat, and toppings. We love this place and go often. An added bonus is that on Saturday they have $2 tacos.

Best fish burrito based on amount of mani alone! Nothing fancy just a huge fish burrito.

Super chill place to get a delicious burrito. You can get a salad, but I would recommend the burrito for sure.

Quick and easy everyday burrito/taco joint with a tasty Cuban too. Wife and daughter loved their tacos. My son ordered the steak quesadilla and it was a monster for my son (8y). I ordered the Cuban sandwich and while I saw what appeared to be a premade Cuban being laid out and placed in the oven it was quite good. Salsa and guacamole were fresh and delightful.

  • Erica S.

This place rocks. My friend and I got two HUGE burritos (one chicken, one veggie), a soda, two large salsas, and a thing of guacamole for only $13. I'd say it was a steal. I had the veggie burrito which was great and filled to excess! When ordering, you have the choice of so many different toppings which is awesome. The veggies were fresh And I had my burrito smothered in enchilada sauce and melted cheese which had great flavor. Also came with a big basket of chips. Service was friendly, the playlist on was good, and overall a great, cheap place to visit for lunch or dinner. Will 100% be back. Oh yeah, and they have super cheap bottled beers!

If you are looking for Chipotle type place, you will like it. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food...go to Los Mexicanos few buildings down.

Visited Jakes for the first time tonight. I've lived in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for the past two years and Jake's is the closest thing to authentic Mexican food in this area. Two fresh Mahi Mahi Tacos w tons of toppings, chips & salsa and Dos Equis for less than $10. You can't beat it.

Jake's has become a taco tradition for us. Its location, a little stretch south of Clearwater Beach, makes it feel like you stumbled on a hidden treasure when you walk in the door-- and you have! The food is all so fresh! We haven't ventured out to try anything but the tacos yet but when you find something you love it's hard to get anything else. The mahi mahi & garlic shrimp are two of our favorites. Once you choose the meat you are able to choose from an assortment of (fresh and delicious) toppings. The sauces and salsas are all very yummy as well. Anyway, top it all of with a Corona and head back to the beach. Don't miss Jake's the next time you're in the area!

Get place! Garlic Lime Shrimp amazing!! Been here for a week and are here twice! Very fresh food and prices are crazy for the amount of food you get. I got the 8 dollar nachos and they came on a plastic tray piled high with chicken and toppings of my choice. If you are in town and craving great Mexican at an outstanding price check it out, you will not be let down!

This place is great. I always look for dive restaurants when I travel. They are usually the best, and this was no exception. The Cuban sandwich was off the charts. I plan on going back again before I leave as the Mexican food looked amazing as well. The staff is super friendly and they have quick counter service.

Their shrimp tacos are SOOOO freaking good. Can't overstate it. As a pescetarian, I'm usually stuck with bean burritos and tacos, but they have mahi, shrimp, and even crab in addition to the usual array of meats available here. Their garlic and lime shrimp are cooked to order and absolutely delicious. Their chips are nice and fresh, the salsa tastes homemade and authentic, and haven't had anything bad here! They serve authentic Mexican food with a beach vibe. The only thing I would say is their guac is unusual, it's way creamier than what I'm used to; perhaps they use sour cream or something in it? It isn't my favorite, but I'm sure plenty of people like it that way.

This place is AMAZING! If there were any in Atlanta I would be in financial trouble and probably health trouble as well. A buddy and I discovered this place last year when the group we were with wanted to eat seafood we saw this little burrito place right next door we figured we would try out. We ate there and loved it, so this year the whole family and crew went cause we raved about it so much last year. We went and on Wednesday that have buy one burrito get one free and I know first thing that pops in your mind. "Why are they doing buy one get one? How is the quality of the food they are serving?". I can tell you on a first hand account that the quality of the food is top notch, so full of flavor. I believe you had 5 different choices of main meat to go inside your burrito. I got Mexican chicken with Spanish rice, black beans, fresh jalapeños, pickled jalapeños, chipotle sour cream, cheese, queso, salsa, onions and pico de gallo. You can also get enchilada sauce as a side which is very scrumptious too. The burrito was everything I thought it would be hot and juicy. We also got a large order of queso which was some of the best I had ever had. It's very hard for me to give a place 5 stars but this place did it with ease.

By far one of the best Mexican places I have ever had. If your craving Mexican food this is the place to go!

Great mex addition to the area. I enjoyed two tacos with a side of guac addition for just over $8. The chips and hard shell was very fresh and there is a great choice of build your own topping including gringo and authentic options. Guac was served with little taste but the fresh jalapeños had my mouth on fire! Service was pleasant and parking not too bad. Will be back to try the burrito as I heard many requests for it.

Awesome! This is by far our new favorite Mexican restaurant. The wait is sometimes a little long but it's well worth the wait. The quality and quantity of food you get for the price is amazing! I have had the chicken quesadilla both times we came here and it is so yummy! Brandon had the wet burrito the first time and a quesadilla the next time, both with the fresh fish which he really enjoyed. There are plenty of topping options and their salsa and queso are amazing! Highly recommend this place. I can't wait to go back.

You know one of those restaurants that you keep going to over and over again for its fresh and yummy food that's made quickly and is cheap? Well, Jake's Cantina makes my list of "those" restaurants. Jake's Cantina is tucked at the corner of Gulf and Walsingham and is not only next to Crabby Bill's but is in fact owned by them. This is apparent as soon as you realize that the folks behind the counter are wearing Crabby Bill's t-shirt. This is probably a very clever idea on their part as when the clock hits midnight, the drunks from Crabby Bill's will come floating in to the smells of Mexican food. We usually go on Saturday when it's $2 taco ala carte (no free chips anymore). On any other day, the tacos are $6 and come with chips. The best thing about getting tacos is all the customizing that you can do to them. I ordered 1 each of chicken and pork tacos and got the following toppings: tomatoes, onions, cilantro, fresh jalapenos, spicy verde, lime, and cilantro cream sauce. Jake's does not skimp on the meat or the toppings and the 2 tacos were more than enough for a nice lunch. One sad thing about the $2 ala carte tacos is that Jake's used to provide free chips but whatever reason they got greedy and stopped serving free chips :( . I hope they don't start increasing their prices or get rid of specials since this is the main draw of this place.

Place is awesome. If you like Mexican... Burritos are made to order, so if you don't like it you picked he wrong stuff. Only downside is this is a take-out place or quick serve. No table service and the AC can be a little spotty.

This is our third visit here and we are always impressed! The food is fresh and well prepared. The portions are huge and everyone leaves satisfied! The staff is friendly and courteous. This is becoming one of our families favorite places. Check out the weekly specials they help a family on a budget! Friday's nachos are the best!

Such amazing food! Love that they have grilled mahi! So tasty and the price is amazing especially for such authentic food on vacation! Brought two kids and the husband and for three meals, queso and chips, two beers and a soft drink only $27! You can't even get that price much less the taste at chipotle!

Amazing $5 nachos on Friday. Choose your meat and then pick from a ton of awesome toppings. Best priced nachos I've ever had!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
